No light

My apartment complex has an alleged coastal resort sort of theme going for it. If I’d known that when I applied for it, I probably would’ve been turned off. I hate stupid, trumped up themes, especially overly flowery, trumped up themes. Experience coastal living, blah blah. But I’m not knocking my apartment complex itself, just the theme.

The complex was recently remodeled, and generally beautified, with new landscaping, I’m guessing, as well as adding their new “theme.”
Every door has a lighthouse next to the number, to tie in to the coastal theme.
The best part is, the two alleged lighthouses as part of the landscaping.
I noticed (and this is why I’m bothering to write this) that the lighthouse I see when I’m turning to get to the gate I use doesn’t actually have a light.
No light in a lighthouse? Now I could see that maybe they’re trying to conserve energy, but that argument doesn’t hold when there are floodlights illuminating the whole landscaping extravaganze, complete with additional, squat palm trees and various other vegetation.
If you didn’t guess, folks, in driving by, that they have a coastal theme, now you know!
Even though Fresno is about two hours from the coast. Go figure. Maybe all the palm tree and fig tree names were taken.

Grounds - We continue our lush coastal theme landscape throughout the entire community, with a lighthouse that sits high above our community’s edge, beckoning you to come and experience the best that our seaside has to offer. As you continue to enter into Carmel Crest, you will be greeted by another lighthouse that will finish bringing you into our harbor safely.

Outdoor Amenities - As you reach the heart of Carmel Crest, you also find a place for fun with our barbecue area, sand volleyball court, golf putting green, and playground. Can’t you just feel your toes sinking into the warm sand? We have even more for you to enjoy. A newly remodeled icy-blue pool and hot bubbling spa for you to relax by the moonlight and enjoy our lush surroundings.

I’m sure the irony is lost on them. Lighthouses without light, talking of sinking one’s toes into the sand (see that part of their web site?) when there’s no sand for at least two hours… Just give us our rent, I suppose.

Oh, there’s sand, all right. They have a volley ball court. And for those of you interested in golfing, there’s a putting green. A very very small putting green, but it’s there. For coastal, resort living.

  3. Mel,
Make fun if you will, but I was very impressed by how well the grounds etc. were kept up.
And I just love the palm trees!!!

Dad, it is very nice here. I agree with you on that. Aside from the shopping cart guy, who is seriously creeping me out.
I woke up to the sound of them mowing the lawn this morning. They do keep these grounds up very well.
