Substitute for fireworks

Bet you didn’t know that if you couldn’t get your hands on fireworks to celebrate the new year, that shooting off guns into the air is perfectly fine.
Drove home from work, right at midnight last night, to the sounds of popping in the air. Couldn’t tell, and probably didn’t want to know, which ones were fireworks and which were guns. Long-standing illegal Fresno tradition, apparently. Luckily, I was warned earlier in the night.
Bet you don’t have that at home.
Nope, nope, we don’t.

  2. Mel,
I think they do that in Benton Harbor many nights of the year, doesn’t matter if New Year’s or not!!!!!

Happy New Year, Fresno style! Just remember to duck when you hear those “fireworks”, not that that will help if it’s really a bullet.

Anybody tell these geniuses that what comes up, must come down? :)
