42 Dreams of Arizona Bay

My eye

I can only remember fragments of my dream, but I remember looking into a mirror and seeing that my left eye was very red. Looking at it more closely, I see one side of the iris is red, and that part of my iris has disappeared, almost like it has fallen off.

I’m upset, because my eyes are the only things that I like about myself, even though they need augmentation to function. I’m not wearing contacts at the moment, but decide it was because I wear my contacts too much. I just hope that the infection will recede, and that my iris will grow back. And then I vacillate on whether to go to the eye doctor, who will undoubtedly tell me I can no longer wear contacts.

Another part of my dream, there’s a a huge rainbow that arcs across the whole sky, and can be seen downtown. I struggle to get my camera because I want to shoot the rainbow, but people keep interrupting me or I get distracted.

There are two pterodactyl-like creatures swopping down at me, threatening me. Someone calls them chicken pterodactyls, which makes them sound laughable, but they’re actually frightening when they come at you. They have scaly skin and prepare to bite me when some other creature is used to bite them for me, and kill them. I think it might be a vicious kitten, actually. The teeth marks ooze with green. I pet the kitten, who is nice to me, but still likes to chew, and starts biting my hand. I become worried that something that could kill a chicken pterodactyl could hurt me too.

I get into a room where I have a good view of the rainbow, and there’s some sunlight refracting through some stained glass, and the sight is moving. Just as I prepare to focus on the rainbow and the light, the sun is either obscured just enough, or the light has moved enough that there’s no more sun streaming in, and no more rainbow.

A common theme throughout the dream is needing to go to the bathroom; I keep going, but then I find I have to go again. It’s becoming a point of consternation for me, because people are starting to notice.
I end up in a communal bathroom the final time. Put a seat cover reflexively, and I can hear lots of people talking around me. I want to leave, but I know that I will just have to go to the bathroom again.
I look at the feet of the people coming in and out, and they’re talking about some performance. They’re all wildly dressed.
I get out of the stall, and they all begin talking to me. I don’t know about what. I try to decide whether I can escape back into the stall, because I have to go to the bathroom, again.

It’s only after I wake up that I realize the reason I had to go to the bathroom in the dream is because I really needed to wake up to do the same thing.

  1. Maybe you’ve got Sith eyes. Don’t give in to the Dark Side, Melissa. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate…!

    That’s funny….
It wasn’t that kind of red, more like a very infected red. Disgusting, really. Not evil Dark Side. That would’ve been disturbing but cool. This was just disturbing.

  3. Chickens ARE scary, whether pterodactyls or not . . .

And I’m sure the made the obligatory movie interpretation noise that all pterodactyls must make. I wonder if that sounds any different from chicken pterodactyls.
