Beauty in the world
Sometimes there are few words for the things we see. I tried writing an entry on a random drive I took the other day, writing about how the oversized red sun kissed the hills, the clouds just before sunset… How the curves in the foothills were gentle, fun to zoom around. Or to quote Ani DiFranco — the road flowed like a river, pulling me around every bend.
But I am not feeling poetic or eloquent. I struggled and failed.
Instead, I am going to share a handful of pics taken over the last week or so.

Dark clouds were rolling in. There was a weird and beautiful shadow in the clouds. The wind whipped the palm tree in front of our apartment.

Went out to a park ablaze with orange wildflowers. Up close, they weren’t quite as beautiful as I imagined.

You can see the storm clouds here. It was a cool and eerie sight. People jogging along the path kept telling us to beware of the lightning. As it was, we turned back just before it started to rain huge drops… And missed hail by about another three minutes.

In a separate trip, went looking for the reflector tree. Walked about a quarter-mile to get to it. The reflectors twinkled sometimes in the sunshine. Got some really interesting shots. Only sharing one here.
I’m thinking of starting a photoblog somewhere else, so as not to take up so much room here… But as with anything, I can get the free service, which has limited room, or I can get the pro service, which is … not free. And the way I’ve been taking pictures, with the help of my partner in crime… I’ll need that. I’m mulling it over. I want to buy my swanky digital, but the prospect of moving in a month or two reminds me that I need to save money for that.
How do I put this politely?
What they hell is a reflector tree?
Otherwise, very cool pics!
A reflector tree just is. No explaining it. Saw it on a previous trip. Knew I had to come back shoot it.
