There’s a small, gift store that I used to go to. It has seen better days. My family drives around to look at it, reveling at how far it has fallen into disrepair.

Just as the sight of shopping carts has become more routine for me, I see something different.
A guy wearing a wife-beater rides a bicycle while guiding a shopping cart. It is raining, so the cart is covered with a piece of plastic. This guy looks a little younger than your normal shopping cart facilitator.

My cats have become more spoiled than they are already. They love the patio door, and the boys, at least, become offended if you open the blinds but not the screen door. And more offended when you don’t let them out, which is most of the time.

My brother and I used to have this game. We would share examples of extreme decadence and stupidity, and decide these were reasons the world has to end.

A sound of crashing water fills my ears. In the distance, it is nothing more than noise, with the occasional crack of thunder. Louder, closer.
