Love affair
Of course I’ve started a love affair with my camera. In time, we will be comfortable with each other. I will hold it in my hand, and it will feel like we have always been together.
But in time, I might consider it to be another tool. I might forget about it for a while as I pass through another nonshooting phase. I might take it for granted. I might walk by it without whispering affectionate things.
But for now, I’m in love with my camera.
I’m going to share photos from our first outing together, at a dam about 40 miles away. I shot very carelessly, without much attention to settings. It was our first time together, and was more about passion. As I learn my camera’s settings, I imagine I’ll have more room for creativity.
I may very well set up a photoblog through something like Flickr, something I was obsessed about, but didn’t start a few months ago. Especially if I’m taking up too much server space.

Dam(n) self-portrait

Wildflowers

Lines. I owe this shot to Heather, who noticed the spider webs. Which then made me make the ewww! noise. But I shot it anyway. Just didn’t get as close as she did.

Water from the dam

After wading in the water, you might need some dry socks.
Great shots. The purple wildflowers are especially pretty. I don’t think you have to worry too much about server space, since it appears you are using relatively small jpgs. If you want to make your high resolution master copies available, then you might want to look into flickr just for convenience sake.
Thanks.
And I found that you can make your pictures available only to the people you want them to be available to. So if my sodsbrood friends were interested, but I didn’t want just anyone pilfering my photos, I could make it so only you guys could get them.
I just always feel a wee bit guilty because I usually post several. But I’m always limited by the size I’m allowed to post — 96k or less.
I may well go with Flickr, though I found another service that would also suit my purpose. Flickr just seemed to be better, and has both free and paid service. And I’m guessing with the kind of activity I will be doing, I imagine I’m going to have to go to paid. Which is unfortunate, since I just spent a crapload on the camera.
Guess it’s time to go back to considering a photoblog. Darn.
Wish I could be where you are…but I guess I kind of am virtually while kicked back in my red chair, Elliot sleeping across my lap. So I guess I get the best of both worlds this way. I especially like “Lines,” though “Wildflowers” also has a cool psychedelic feel to it.
