This time last year

This time last year, I was finishing packing, cleaning out my old life in Michigan. Without a Map’s Heather was kind enough to help me finish up, on her birthday.
Today is Heather’s birthday. Let us all wish her a happy birthday.
And, btw, admire my cake. If this isn’t my first from scratch cake, I bet it’s the first in 15 years. Yes, you should be impressed. No, it’s not perfect. And no, I did not make the candy on top.

Another note… A family member now shares Heather’s birthday. Baby girl W., Hannah, daughter of brother Jon, is welcomed to the world tonight. So happy birthday, Hannah.

The cake looks marvelous
And folks, the frosting’s from scratch, too. And she managed not to put a billion candles on it, then tease me about burning the house down. Most impressive.
But seriously, you didn’t have to do all this nice stuff for me. And then tell everyone it was my birthday. But thanks, anyway.
And a happy true birthday to Hannah.
Happy birthday Heather! Our birthdays almost coincide.
And Mel, did you make that fine China plate the cake is sitting on?
(See, thought you’d answer all stupid questions in advance, but you didn’t think of that one, did you?)
Happy Birthday Heather! And such a beautiful cake too. . . I am a little envious of Mel’s secret talent!
Happy birthday to Hannah and Heather! Though I think you should have spelled out Heather’s name in Smarties
