Stamp this
You would think, being the well-run governmental organization it is, that the post office would make sure it would stock 2 cent stamps in its automatic machines.
I saw several confused people come and go at two different stamp machines, all puzzled as to why you wouldn’t stock 2 cent stamps after yet another postal increase.
I was one of those confused people. I secretly watched the others, trying to see if they were somehow seeing something I wasn’t. One woman hopefully put two cents in the machine, just for kicks. And then didn’t get her money back, either.
The line to the counter itself was out the door, into the lobby, and I didn’t want to spend 15 minutes in line for two cents.
I bit down and paid 39 cents and pasted the new stamp over the old. There. Happy, post office? Good. Here’s to supporting a rapidly outdated postal system.
eBay is the only thing keeping them in business, in my opinion.
And bookcrossing.
