Um, good luck. You will also receive things which look like checks but are really home equity loan finance offers, not to mention solicitations from every home repair place in the book. Some things will be worthwhile, though - coupons from places like Sears and Home Depot. Don’t pitch those.
Our big issue in lansing was with door-to-door window salesmen. It seemed like three or four would come by every year.
The tally is now up to maybe 10.
I don’t recall anyone contacting us about insurance. But real estate is different here, much different I imagine.
The mortgages are so high–they’ll approve you for a monthly payment of 50%-60% of your gross, though ours is nowhere near that–that i wonder if they merely play off fear. If you’re splitting that mortgage with someone else, and you’re already mortgaged up to 50% of your own income, and they die… yowzers.
And door-to-door window salesmen? I’ve never seen one of those. Wow.
And I’ve learned not to sign up for home-related raffles at county fairs. Twice I’ve been contacted about “special offers” even though I specified I didn’t want to be contacted unless I’d won something. Sheesh…
