That didn’t last long
His name is Data or Jean-Luc.
Leaning toward Data.
Heather dragged me out of the house this morning but wouldn’t tell me where we were going. We ended up at the pet store.
“We’re at the pet store.”
“Yes.”
“Does that mean I can have a kitten?”
Short story: we went to a different pet store than the one I went to the other day, though we did check to see if the flamepoint was still available. He was not.
Data, as we will refer to him for now, has a loud purr. He was quite curious and a little cautious about exploring his new home. Playful and easy to aggravate.
Ziggy sounds like he wants to be friends. He makes his friendly noise, approaches, and then the kitten, after a moment, hisses at him.
Merlin hisses at the kitten and sounds like he wants the kitten dead. He’s also very touchy and howls a lot.
The last thing I want to do is change Merlin’s personality. I don’t want him to grow out of his extended kittenhood. I tried to play with him and the kitten equally.
I felt pretty good about this kitten today. I didn’t have the weird reaction I had the last couple of times I went to the pet store. I think it also helped that I had permission.
ahh, so thats what California kitties look like - like ordinary orange Michigan kittens!:) just messing with you. cute cat. and please, for the love of god, not Jean-Luc (oh no! he capitalized “Jean-Luc” but not “god”???). that’s a terrible name for a pet. Data’s better and actually not a bad name for a pet at all, even with it being a nerdy pop-culture reference. ok, i have no room to talk. I have a cat named Link and a cat named Chief (full name is Master Chief). And a cat named Mocha, that I would’ve loved to have named Cortana, but was voted down on. Oh well, Mocha really doesn’t lend herself well to being named after an institutional smart AI that eventually will go insane (i’m guessing, because other AIs have gone insane in the Halo universe) in Halo 3 anyway.
Data has gotten the overwhelming amount of votes so far.

Threw myself one. Had coupons and ended up spending too much, making sure the kitten would have just the right stuff.
Now it turns out he’s got some sort of sneeze going on AND fleas. We’re going into the vet (free vet exam) to get that sorted out. Get all that nipped in the bud before it gets worse.
Sorry, we have been traveling (yearly farm house shin-dig) recently and are a bit behind: just went through your flickr set and he is so cute! Good name, too. Data was easily the most interesting character on that series.
With all the flack that Bruce takes from Elliot, I would guess that we are three years off from a new kitten, assuming Lucy is better with cats than our firstborn hellion.
