Rain!
Awoke this morning to the sound of rain and gray skies.
Couldn’t have been happier.
Weather forecast says it will be 108 degrees today, but it didn’t mention rain.
I was too tired and groggy to run downstairs and stand outside in the rain, so the existence of the rain and the still cloudy sky will be enough for me. And the sounds of wet tires shooshing by.
I’d say the chances of Fresno getting rain in August were about as good as me winning the lottery today. Guess I’d better go buy that lottery ticket.
Update 1010 a.m.: Still cloudy. Still raining. Still glorious. Was baking cookies(!) before school and took a minute to run outside and turn my face up to the drizzle of rain. I can occasionally hear thunder. It was awesome.
The only possible downside to rain (besides all the farmers who will now whine their crops are ruined) is that people forget how to drive. That, and the classrooms at my college are weird. The main door to my class is on the outside. There’s not much building to be had. And the class is locked until near classtime, so that means I have to figure out how to stay dry. Because I have to do an elaborate dance which includes getting to campus ridiculously early to make sure I can get a parking spot. I paid for my parking permit and I’ll be damned if I have to walk three blocks from a residential area.
And I have to drop the cookies off at work so they won’t combust in my car. No time to go home.
Oh, the sounds of wet tires. That’s a good observation. Ad an unexpected something you may never think you’ll miss, until you don’t hear it for months at a time.
