Old lady

“Excuse me, where do you have the slips?”
Asked of a young worker at Target in the women’s underwear section.
Blank look. Another blank look. Silence, then…
“Uh, you mean for dresses? We don’t sell slips for dresses here.”
Have slips become old-fashioned while I wasn’t looking? I’ll admit the last time I bought a slip, I was a radically different size, though I still try to squeeze into the slip if I need to. Despite the fact that the fashion seems to go to see-through clothing, no slips. At least not at Target.
I’m not ladylike, particularly. I need a black slip to wear under my Halloween costume, the irritatingly generic Autumnal fairy. Don’t ask.
Guess this just makes me an old lady.

Uh… what’s a slip?
Well, I bet Natalie doesn’t wear one, so I can understand why you don’t know what one is.
Sadly (maybe…) I can’t recall the last time I wore a slip…or a dress, though I do have one (well, a slip and a dress–a few, in fact). Maybe one day I’ll try being feminine, though I have worn the occasional skirt for teaching (minus hose and slip).
MMMMm…. I love hearing about things Natalie doesn’t wear. Why don’t you follow her example?
