The things I do for love

I thought, when giving Stinky twice-daily injections, that I knew what unconditional love for a cat was.

Until I had to give Data an enema.

Not too many gross details, but let’s just say my growing kitten has been constipated for more than a week after his declaw operation, and the vet has given me tools to hopefully take care of that.

Had to give him a bath last night. Hope I won’t have to do that today. Had to put him on the special, even more expensive high-fiber food that Stinky had to eat, ironically. Had to feed him pumpkin. Have to give him kitty laxative.

The worst part is that with my chiropractor bills, and my insurance company not covering them, is that I’m utterly and completely broke. I love my incredibly irritating cat, and now I’m struggling to find ways to help him. I tell myself it’ll be more expensive if he has to have surgery, so I do it now for love.

  1. Trying to give a cat a bath is one of most difficult tasks a pet owner can undertake…the only thing I can imagine that would be harder is giving a cat an enema. That almost sounds like a joke, really, or an expression of impossibility.

“Sisyphean task” = “giving a cat an enema.”

But apparently you succeeded. Good thing he is declawed!

You never call, you never write, and now I see you posting about your love for another.

When will the hurting stop Mel??!? When?!?!?

Wow! I thought you’d dropped out of admiration for me. Did you and Natalie part ways?

Anyway, cat love is an entirely different thing.

  4. Ha! Very funny response, Matt! And, yes, good thing he IS declawed! :)

Well you and Natalie are a lot alike, seeing as how both of you never seem to want to talk to me. And of the two of you, there is only one who is not always followed by armed guards.

It is so nice to know that there is room in your heart for more than just cats.

  6. staying completely silent (well, not completely since I did write this message).
