Big number

1281

Number of minutes I used on my cell phone last month.

Sounds like a lot. Hell, it is a lot.

I used to not use my cell phone that much, but I’m working at trying to keep up with a handful of people. And most months, I barely crack 500 minutes, if I’m lucky.

Did I go over? Did I get charged an exorbitant fee? No.

Back when I first got my cell phone, the company was offering 1,500 minute plans for about $40, and I was assured that it would never change, unless I changed it myself. (And by the way, the company does not offer my plan anymore. I think the highest they go is 1,000 minutes for the same price.)

I didn’t know how much I would use the phone, and for the longest time, I couldn’t. I had terrible reception and a crappy ass phone to boot. My conversations were usually punctuated with what and damn when the call dropped.

Fast forward a couple years or so into my relationship with 1,500 minutes. I don’t think I’ve ever broken 1,000 minutes, and it’s always been a matter of entertainment to see how high I could get my minutes, considering that I get charged the same for using 300 or 1,200.

And for whatever reason, I must’ve talked nonstop through most of February.

I even left my chatty aunt a message, telling her to call me back so we could burn some minutes. Drat, she didn’t make the deadline.

I guess I’m easily amused, and the last time I checked, I’m back down to 54 minutes. Damn it!

  1. You should go play the pick four lottery with those. Could be a winner!
