I did my civic duty

I did my civic duty. I voted for what and who I believed in. I don’t like to be a loser. Let’s hope I’m not.

  1. We’re all winners today! Even Republicans ought to take pride in what Americans did yesterday. The Wall Street Journal phrased it this way: no other western democracy has ever elected a man of mixed race to the highest office in the land, not even supposedly cosmopolitan western European democracies.

  2. Indeed, we’re all winners today! It truly feels that way to me at least. This morning when I woke Elliot up, I asked him, “Guess who won for president?” He sat up, looked up at me in sleepy awe, and said with all seriousness, “Is it me?” Yesterday we’d had a conversation about the election and who would win and he rattled off all the names in our family, and I said, “Well, if Obama becomes president, we’ll all be winners.” Today I truly believe we are.
