The Junk Drawer

Photo fun

So I’m in the middle of trying to do another post full of pictures … and our transition to the new version has left me a little irritated.

The old Word Press was not all that intuitive, but I found a way to not use thumbnails and also eradicate the annoying hyperlink borders by taking off half the coding.

So now I’m a little stumped at the way yet another photo uploading system works. I’ve uploaded the photos just fine but it’s not intuitive as to how I’m supposed to get a full-size and not thumbnail-size photo in there. I don’t want thumbs. That negates the point of posting pictures, in my opinion.

I could’ve easily asked this quietly, but maybe a discussion would help everyone else.

And now that I’ve posted this publicly, I’m sure I’ll fumble around and find it out for myself. I kinda like that part.

I’m off to Florida tomorrow and busy with a million details as usual. I’ll try to help you when I return post Sunday. Let is know if you figure it out in the mean time.

In the “browse” window where your thumbnails appear, click on the thumbnail. A list of options magically appears, including “using thumbnail.” Click on “using thumbnail” and it changes to “using original.” Click “send to editor” to put the code in your post.

Sorry for the frustrations.

That was me above. I have been logged in as dhalgren, trying to figger out why Spam Karma 2 keeps eating all our comments. I am going to disable it, uninstall it, and reinstall it. That’s about my last option, before despair and hari kiri.

Hmph. Well, I tried setting it to using original last night, and it didn’t look like it was having the intended effect.
I’m irritated with it. Grrr. Maybe that was just hindering me from doing it correctly. It *seems* like it’s more intuitive, with the easier uploads and tagging and stuff and you would *think* that it’d be easy to get it to work.

I think I may have had the same problem when I tried uploading a photo of the iPod on Saturday. The picture was just a thumbnail. I thought maybe the picture I had downloaded was actually only that small. Let me experiment with uploading a picture and see if I can get it to work.
