		<description>Obviously the "Prosperity Gospel" has worked for Osteen.  He's a very rich and powerful man.  He's no &lt;a href="http://www.traditioninaction.org/SOD/j055sdsimeon1-5.htm" rel="nofollow"&gt;Simon Stylites&lt;/a&gt;, that's for sure.

It's interesting to look back at the Reformation and how one of the criticisms of the Catholic church was of its wealth and the opulence of the Popes (not to mention their hypocrisy).  Within the Evangelical church, there is a similar phenomenon in which a number of wealthy, hypocritical "Popes" bilk their congregation of millions of dollars by selling them the snake oil of prosperity through faith in God.</description>
