Published, not perished
I recieved some good news today that I feel I ought to share with the brood. The Wittenburg Door is going to publish my story The Evangelists. The Door is a magazine of Christian satire and humor, maybe the only one in existence.
I have to say, without sodsbrood, I don’t know that this story would have been written. Having an audience to write for has been like tinder to my fire. It reminds me of when I first began writing for my classmates in the fifth grade. To me, having an appreciative, or at least captive audience, keeps me writing and helps me overcome my natural propensity to indolence. I hope you receive some pleasure from my writing as well.
With that in mind, I am behind again in publishing any new material to my long-ish piece of fiction, “Rented Space.” I mentioned to a friend that I may change the weekly deadline for new material to Wednesday. Mondays are bad because I never do any work on the weekends. Weekends, I am overcome by laziness. Usually by Wednesday, however, I’ve warmed up enough to crank something out.
Thus from now on I will try to have a chapter or two published by Wednesday of any given week. I have one chapter I could publish now, but I hope to have another by tomorrow. I like to publish at least two chapters so I at least feel like I’ve worked hard.
In the meantime, I am sending a couple more stories to The Door, both of which I have also published here. One is the “sequel” to “The Evangelists,” with the rather uninspired title The Evangelists Part 2. The other is titled The Christmas Miracle.
If it does not violate whatever copyright the Door will acquire from me, I want to make these stories available to you in PDF format. The versions I have sent the Door are different in minor ways from the web-published versions, and the PDF versions would reflect my revisions. I’ve corrected typos I’ve noticed on the web page, and in some cases I’ve added, subtracted, or combined a line or two for clarity’s sake.

You’re welcome. Please do make the pieces availabe via PDF. You could eventually add an entire series of links to your work on the right side of your blog, along with archives, etc.

Congrats! That’s very exciting. And to think we go to see it first. Sniff.

How wonderful it is that your piece has been published! And I agree with Mel — we did get to see it first, and what a honor too!
