More notes on WordPress 2.0

I used Internet Explorer for Windows to type up the previous post on the West Virginia mine disaster. The rich editor is very responsive in IE; it is also responsive in Firefox for Windows. The sluggishness I reported in an earlier post must be localized to Firefox for Macintosh. Or maybe I’m just too damned impatient.

As for the problem with the spellchecker in the Google Toolbar, let me add a link to this post and then try it out. Links sometimes confuse spellcheckers.

WordPress

…and it worked fine. In Firefox for Windows, however, the spellchecker stalls and the post has to be abandoned. I’ll need to do a little more research about this.

It would be a real downer if Windows-based browsers are the only browsers in which WP 2.0 works flawlessly. It would also make no sense, since WP is an open source application created by people who I’d guess predominantly use Firefox or some alternate browser. At least a few of the developers must have given some thought to the Mac, as well, though increasingly I’m not so sure. The fact that the “quick tags” buttons are disabled by default in Safari suggests that development of WordPress for Mac-compatible browsers is on the back burner compared to development for Windows-based browsers.
