A big woody
As every parent of a small child knows, the main character in Pixar’s Toy Story is named (for better or worse), Woody.
Brendan and I were in the toy department of Target the other day, looking for a toy for him when he spyed a realistic-sized Woody doll from the movie. He already has a Woody doll, but this is what he said to convince me that he really needed this new one.
“Dad, I know I’ve got a big Woody, but this one is so much bigger.”
“Well, it’s true your Woody isn’t that big,” I said, “But you still can’t have it.”

A toy named Woody… it’s almost too easy.

Even if big, Woody is a rather limp doll (and prone to tearing as we see in the sequel)…as compared to that shorter, stiffer to-infinity-and-beyond fellow.
Gosh, you are on a roll here, Pilgrim.

Yes, quite a roll. A log roll, maybe?
“A Clean Beaver and a Big Woody” sounds like a sequel to that cult classic mentioned in The Big Lebowski, “Logjammin’.”

You had better watch out or your comment fields are going to get taken over by little lebowski urban achievers… They are out there and feeling naughty.

And what does it say about my son that the Toy Story character he most identifies with is Wheezy the penguin…?

Maybe E. feel sneglected? Put on a shelf and forgotten? Just kidding…I think it’s cute. E. is demonstrating empathy, something our own son, unfortunately, seems to lack. Lynn and I’ve been talking about B.’s selfishness and lack of respect or empathy for others, including the dog. Where did we go wrong in creating this kid who seems still entirely self-focused and needy? There is a blog post a-brewin’.
