Yeah, I tried to tell my brother about machinima, and not did he already know what it was, but that I was pronouncing it wrong. :)

Heh heh. I don't know about this World of Worldcraft of which you speak, but I thought the fan video was pretty funny.

Of course, I do it old skool. Hell, I just cracked out Crazy Taxi 2 on Dreamcast the other night. It turns out it's been five years since I played it last. Five years! I had no idea.

So that's the technical name for this: Machinima?

I think it will last another three to four years, until Blizzard's releases it's next big thing. There are probably two more expansion packs in the future of WoW. I think what holds a lot of people to the game is the amount of time invested, plus the money spent. For me, I enjoy the game a lot, of course, but I also feel a compulsion to play in order to "get my money's worth." I don't know if there is a limit of enjoyment for me. Any other game, I'd say yeah I'll get bored with it after a certain period of time. But WoW has lasted longer in my imagination than any other game I've ever played. If there is an end to it, in personal terms, I haven't even glimpsed that end yet.

Hah!

I subscribe to the wowinsider blogs now, and they have a fair amount of machinima, some of it good, some of it bad.

I'd say this one went on way too long and wasn't that good, but I do find it fascinating that people spend so much time creating little films. I'm often impressed.

I wonder how much longer World of Warcraft will keep going, in terms of this generational event. There's going to be yet another expansion to keep those long-time players happy, but for people like me, I think there's a limit to the game.
